Custom charges let you bill for anything outside the standard rent and utilities. ResortTribe handles them differently depending on whether the guest is a long-term tenant or a short-term reservation guest.
One-time charges on a lease
Use one-time charges for anything that happens once on a long-term account: a propane refill, a damage fee, a special cleaning, or a custom service.
- 1 Open the lease and go to One-time Charges.
- 2 Add a charge with a type, description, and amount.
- 3 The charge status is pending until the next invoice is generated.
- 4 When you generate the invoice, the pending charge is added as a line item and marked billed — it will not appear again.
Incidental charges on a short-term reservation
For nightly guests, incidental charges attach directly to the reservation and adjust the balance owed.
- 1 Open the reservation in the admin panel.
- 2 Go to Charges and add an incidental charge.
- 3 Choose a type (propane, cleaning, damage, guest charge, storage, or other), add a description, and enter the amount.
- 4 The charge appears on the guest's reservation detail and is included in the balance collected by Stripe.
Always add a clear description. If a guest disputes a charge, your description is the first thing that resolves it.
