The campground is known for being well maintained. Boaters are welcome to use several courtesy docks on a first come, first served basis. The area also offers great day-use opportunities for fishing, picnicking, swimming and using playgrounds. The Sandy Lake Dam divides the recreation area into two zones with a public walkway across for easy foot traffic access. This walkway offers an interesting view point of Big Sandy Lake and the Sandy River.
