McGee's Landing was founded by Joseph Bryant McGee, Jr. and Violet Doreen Latham McGee. The McGee's main house was originally located where McGee Flats are now. Before the Toledo Bend Lake filled up, they moved their home and farm from the Sabine River bottom to the existing location. McGee's Landing was founded by Joseph Bryant McGee, Jr. and Violet Doreen Latham McGee. The McGee's main house was originally located where McGee Flats are now. Before the Toledo Bend Lake filled up, they moved their home and farm from the Sabine River bottom to the existing location. Shortly after the lake filled up, the McGees decided to build the marina that included a boat ramp, pier, store, sheds for camping, and the R.V. park. The park has remained in operation for over 50 years.
